12u and under:  Club Team

  • The primary emphasis of the 12U and under teams is the overall development of basketball competency:  a combination of fundamental skills (i.e. dribbling, passing, shooting, etc.) and basketball IQ.  These teams will focus on competing in league play with tournaments in the local area in appropriate divisions approximately 1-2 times every 2 months.

13u (7th Grade):  Select Team

  • In addition to the ongoing development of fundamental skills and Basketball IQ, the 13U select team within BCA will also emphasize competition and will be competing in the bigger, more prestigious tournaments in the local area and possibly surrounding areas like San Diego or Las Vegas in preparation for a national circuit schedule.

14u (8th Grade): Elite National Team

  • The 14U Elite National Team represents the fruition of our program.  In addition to the refinement and stabilization of fundamental skills and expanding basketball intelligence, we encourage our 14U team to compete at the highest national level, competing in some of the most prestigious tournaments around the country.

Development Arc Formula Theory

  • Greater Skills = More Confidence = More Aggressiveness = More Playing Time = Less Frustration for Player (and Parents)

  • Problem: Identify

  • Solution: Create

  • Benefit: Understand

  • Results: Attain

Steps to Results: Consistent Refinement

  1. Assess: The coach assesses each individual's challenges

  2. Correction: Having identified the challenge, the coach corrects via explanation, demonstration and progression skills.

  3. Progression: As skills are mastered, new skills are introduced to broaden the player's capacity to implement what has be learned

Progressive Phases to Learn New Skill

  1. Walk through it

  2. Watch Film of it

  3. Build up motor skills

  4. Add decision making

  5. Go Live

  6. Add secondary/rotation defense

Pillars (4): Imperative Skills

  1. Listening

  2. Communication

  4. Execution

Framework:

  • Curriculum: Buy in and Commitment are a necessity for desired results

  • Philosophy:  Parents and players must trust the process. All players identify, incorporate, and progress at different rates and times, so patience is another skill that must be exhibited
